Wetland Conservation
Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks supports the conservation of Montana’s wetlands through their Migratory Bird Wetland Conservation Program. The primary funding source for this important program has been the revenue generated through the sale of Migratory Bird Hunting License. Projects are identified and funding utilizing the Wetlands Protection Advisory Council (established by the Legislature in 1985).

Goal
To highlight the importance of wetland conservation, Montana FWP launched the Montana Migratory Bird Stamp in 2024. The winning artwork was provided by John N. Harris from Florida. This beautiful pintail in flight looks great on the 2024 Montana Migratory Bird Stamp. The competition for the 2025 stamp is underway.
This year, FWP will be making the stamp available outside of the normal license sale process. It is hoped that this will attract expanded attention to the conservation of Montana’s wetlands.
