Montebello Fishing Access Site
Expanding Public Access – MOLF is working with FWP to provide additional access to Flathead Lake and more boating opportunities close to Wild Horse Island.
Goal
Montebello Fishing Access Site – MOLF worked with a generous landowner to acquire a 15-acre property just north of Dayton, MT on the western shore of Flathead Lake directly across from Wild Horse Island. FWP had identified this property as an ideal location for a fishing / boating access site and requested MOLF assistance to quickly secure this property. MOLF worked with the landowner and purchased the property – giving the agency time to do the due diligence needed for them to move forward with purchase. The property is now owned by FWP and planning is underway for developing the property into a Fishing Access Site.
