Bear Awareness Gardiner
Living with wildlife on the border of Yellowstone National Park is both a privilege and a responsibility. We form strategic partnerships with agencies working in and near the park to help local residents and businesses prepare their spaces to prevent problematic interactions with bears and other native predators.

Bear Can Program
Bear Awareness Gardiner is happy to offer a free garbage can to every resident in Gardiner. Using bear resistant garbage cans has proven to reduce conflicts with bears and make our community more safe, and our bears less likely to continue to come into town.
Electric Fencing Program
Bear Awareness Gardiner is happy to supply property owners in Gardiner with loan out electric fencing supplies to secure attractants. By securing attractants like fruit trees, apiaries and chicken coops we can reduce conflicts with bears, and help them move through town more quickly and safely.
Fruit Gleaning Program
During the late summer and fall, Bear Awareness Gardiner organizes volunteers to help remove fruit from the trees in Gardiner and the Gardiner Basin. By removing fruit we can slowly eliminate the generational knowledge of these food sources that bring bears into close proximity of our homes and businesses, and creates a public safety issue as the bears navigate our community, and increases the chances for them to access unnatural foods and become habituated, which is unsafe for both humans and bears.
